02 / CABINET BOX MATERIALS
Three box material options.
Particleboard
An engineered product formed using waste wood products, such as sawdust, wood chips, and sawmill shavings. The material is mixed with resin adhesives, formed into a sheet, and heat pressed. It is lightweight and relatively low cost.
HDF
An engineered composite product made from small wood fibres from softwood and hardwood. These are mixed with resin adhesive and hot pressed to form a board. HDF has a smooth finish with no wood grain, making it easy to paint and cut. It is stronger and denser than particleboard.
Plywood
An engineered product made from multiple sheets of veneer. The sheets are bonded and pressed together with adhesive to create one sheet. Grades and thicknesses vary depending on veneer thickness and the process used during manufacturing. Plywood is a sturdy material adaptable to construction applications from flooring to cabinetry.
